For a fourth year running, First Community has successfully completed a Data Security and Protection Toolkit self-assessment and surpassed the stringent standards, showcasing its unwavering commitment to data security and protection.
All organisations that have access to NHS patient data and systems must use the Data Security and Protection Toolkit to publish an assessment against the National Data Guardian’s 10 data security standards.
These standards are designed to protect sensitive data, and also protect critical services which may be affected by a disruption to critical IT systems (such as in the event of a cyber attack).
Adrian Baillieu, Director of Finance & Resources gave thanks to colleagues for their commitment to data security and said, “This is a fantastic achievement for First Community and demonstrates that we continue to practice good data security, and that personal information is handled correctly.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone at First Community for making this this achievement possible and to the teams directly involved in completing the toolkit.
“First Community will continue to uphold its commitment to excellence in data security and protection, fostering trust and confidence among our service users and stakeholders.”
First Community was presented with the certification on 19 June 2024 and the accreditation remains in place until 30 June 2025. You can view the organisations full publication history here.
