This accessibility statement applies to all pages available on the domain www.firstcommunityhealthcare.co.uk.
This website is run by First Community Health and Care and we want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible and it is currently mostly compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard. Some of this content may include:
• modifying the line height or spacing of text
• videos not having captions
• PDFs not being accessible to screen reader software
• alt text not shown on images.
We’ve assessed the cost of fixing the issues with accessing information and it would be a disproportionate burden to change the below which are exempt from the accessibility regulations:
• pre-recorded audio and video published before 23 September 2018
• PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 - unless they are essential to providing our services
• maps - but essential information like an address will be available in an accessible format
• third party content that’s under someone else’s control
• archived websites if they’re not needed for services we provide.
Any content we publish from January 2021 will meet accessibility standards.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We continue to improve accessibility on this website and any new content will be reviewed for accessibility before implementation.
We have also undertaken a page by page review of the entire site, checking language, adding alternative text to all images and evaluating font size and all PDFs.
