As the holiday season approaches, the spirit of giving is alive and well at First Community. This year, colleagues across the organisation came together to deliver a generous collection of Christmas donations to two local charities, spreading warmth and goodwill to those in need.
For the past several weeks, First Community employees have been gathering donations of food and toys as part of the company's annual festive charity drive. The initiative aims to support families and individuals in the community who may be facing hardship during the festive season.
On Friday 6 December Renée Padfield, Executive Director of Operations along with Katie Battams, Communications Manager and Donna Peel, Communications Assistant set off from First Community’s head office to deliver items to the Caterham Salvation Army and Horley Foodbank.
“The holidays are a time for giving, and we’re proud to be able to contribute to our community in such a meaningful way”, said Renée Padfield.
"It’s heartwarming to see how everyone comes together, whether it’s through donations or volunteering their time to make a difference to the lives of so many.
“I was overwhelmed to see the amount of donations and I’d like to personally thank all of our amazing colleagues for their kindness and generosity.”
The Caterham Salvation Army assists a growing number of individuals and families across the Tandridge district. They provide opportunities to talk through issues and provide practical support to help with issues such as debt, benefit applications, fuel and food poverty, relationship issues and much more.
The Horley Food Bank is staffed by volunteers from local churches and provides food and toiletries to those suffering a short-term crisis.
Ailsa Finders, Church Minister for the Caterham Salvation Army commented on social media, “Our thanks to all the staff at First Community for the wonderful donation of toys. You are all stars!”
The Christmas donation drive is part of First Community's broader commitment to community and social involvement and all employees were encouraged to get involved by donating much needed items.
