First Community has appointed a highly experienced health care leader and nurse, Jon Ota, as its new Chief Nurse. Jon will replace current Chief Nurse Liz Mouland, who is retiring after over 40 years of NHS service.
Jon Ota is currently the managing director for Sussex MSK Partnership where he leads their community services and commissioning for hospital based care. Having started his nursing career at University College London Hospital and The Middlesex Hospital, Jon specialised in palliative care, sexual health and public health. More recently he has gained extensive experience leading NHS community services and was the Chief Nurse at Harrow Primary Care Trust.
Asked about joining First Community Health, Jon said: “Three things made this an opportunity that I could not pass up; First Community delivers services that can change people’s lives for the better. Secondly, I wanted to continue to work in a staff owned social enterprise because I believe it better enables purposeful care, and lastly the commitment, passion and warmth of the people I met here made me feel at home. I’m really excited about joining the team.”
First Community CEO Sarah Billiald said, “Jon brings a wealth of experience in both commissioning and delivering NHS services, as well as leading a social enterprise, making him a perfect fit for First Community. His skills will really help us to build on our collaborations with local partners so together we can ensure local people get the joined up care they need. I’m really looking forward to working alongside Jon to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities in east Surrey.”
Jon will be joining First Community in Spring 2020.
