Staff wellbeing is one of our key priorities here at First Community and we want everyone to feel valued and supported. Our Employee Assistance Programme provides a range of brilliant services and benefits including financial, legal and health advice, as well as counselling.

We know that well supported and happy staff provide the best care for our patients and the wellbeing of our staff is an important priority at First Community. We hold events across all sites to support, maintain and improve the physical, mental and emotional well-being of all employees. All staff are eligible to join the NHS Pension Scheme which is recognised as one of the most generous pension arrangements in the UK and is a key benefit for NHS employees. An NHS pension includes life assurance benefits, voluntary and flexible retirement benefits, ill health benefits and a range of other benefits.
First Community offers generous annual leave entitlement above the statutory minimum, subject to a qualifying length of service within the NHS. NHS employees are entitled to up to 27 days a year annual leave plus eight public and general holidays, pro rata for part time staff. After five and ten years, this then increases this then increases up to a maximum of 33 days plus public and general holidays.

The employee referral scheme was introduced to encourage employees to recommend their friends and family, who have the skills we need, to apply to come and work for First Community.
