About the Dressing Clinic

The Dressing Clinic is for people who are unable to get an appointment with their practice nurse for the day they require their dressing change. Please continue to book the next available appointment with your practice nurse and book with the Dressing Clinic until then.

The types of wounds we treat are:

  • Trauma wounds and lacerations
  • Post-operative surgical wounds
  • Cysts and abscesses
  • Blisters, burns and bites
  • Removal of clips and sutures.

We are unable to provide wound care for chronic wounds, pressure ulcers and leg ulcers.

Dressings

Please bring any dressings you have been given with you to each appointment, as we may not have the same dressings.

If you are issued with a discharge letter from a hospital or day surgery, please bring this along with you to your appointment.

Clinic times

Our Dressing Clinic is open seven days a week including bank holidays and the service offers appointments only. 

  • Monday: 8am - 2 pm
  • Tuesday: 2pm - 8pm
  • Wednesday: 8am - 2 pm
  • Thursday: 8am - 2 pm
  • Friday: 8am - 2pm
  • Weekends and bank holidays: 8am - 2 pm

Please report to the reception desk on arrival. 

Advice

It is important to maintain a healthy, balanced diet for wound healing. Keep well hydrated and increase your protein intake. 

Continue to exercise within your limits as advised by your nurse.

Keep your dressing dry and do not remove the dressing or bandage. 

Contact your GP/NHS 111 if any of the following symptoms develop:

  • Redness, heat, swelling
  • Increase of pain around the wound 
  • Fever.
